I Feel Annoyed... What Makes Me Feel Annoyed?

Honestly I don't feel so good this week, so much pressure on the works and the classes. Every night when I come back to me, I really don't want to think anything but only want to sit down and relax. Although you don't think of them, but those troubles always come with you. The bad thing is that sometimes I don't even realize what makes me feel so annoyed... I just feel that I missed someone so much and I want to see her again.

Remember the incident and the crazy guy on the bus I talked about last night? I was really unhappy and feel extremely annoyed when that guy kept on slamming the back door of the bus, you know, I really wanted to stand up and scold him! I was furious! How come he did those?! What the hell?! Decamped, I didn't want to see those bad behaviors. Finally that guy got off the bus, certainly I was relieved.

People say it right, when you feel angry, sit down and relax. Just like Mark Twain said, "When angry count four; when very angry, swear." The question is: will the troubles go away by not thinking of them?

Couple Random Thoughts, Just Consider Them Random…

I really have no idea for what to write at the moment. I know, usually I make one or two posts everyday, but this week makes me quite busy. Sometimes I wanted to write something here but I found out that I either didn't have enough or too tired, working, studying, keeping myself busy is what I'm doing.

I have one furious thing that I saw on a bus today. I was riding the 5-Fulton line early this evening, when the bus approached near the USF, a white man who looked drunk or influenced by drugs tried to get onboard from the back door, but he couldn't get in because the back door light was not lit. Then he got onto the bus with a young woman, (I don't know what the relationships they have) as he was on the bus, many other passengers started observing his strange behaviors. You know, the behaviors that the man did was not only strange, but also horrified other passengers. He kept on hitting the back door of the bus with his back, he hit it very hardly. He also changed his moods very quickly, I mean when he smiled and hugged the young woman who was with him, then he suddenly became very angry and hit the bus hardly, and then he suddenly sat down and looked upset, and again, he became angry. Every passenger including me is aware of his stranger behavior, I know everyone was angry, but no one dared to speak out. That was horrible! At some point when that crazy man was on the bus, it made me think of the music video of "Love The Way You Lie" by Eminem. Horrible! Truly horrible! Good thing was he finally got off the bus on Market Street near Civic Center, everyone was relieved.

Now here is the question / concern for Muni: Why the drivers allowed those passengers with strange behaviors on board the public transit vehicles?

First Session Of Pro Tools Class Last Night, Sound For Video Class Interests Me.

It's the time for me to meet a new guy named Pro Tools. Along with Avid Media Composer, these will be the most frequently used software for the upcoming semester. We had our very first class session of Pro Tools last night, the teacher Mark Altin introduced something about Pro Tools, like it's history, the software and hardware. He also talked about the cool things about Pro Tools, and it sounds awesome!

Actually this Pro Tools class is a project intensive class, most of the semester grade is based on four different projects, the first project we are going to do is somewhat similar to the final project of 120 class. Speaking of 120 class, how small the world is! I met many familiar faces last night, most of them took the same 120 class with me last semester. Eri, Jasmin, Amy, just to name a few. In fact, Eri, Jasmin and I were in the same group for the 120 class final project - re-record the dialogue of Citizen Kane with adding sound effects. That was fun!

This afternoon I had my first class session of sound for video. This is really a class that I always want to get in. First, I love to create and produce sound effects for movies and films; second, I love to do some voice-over works for ads, films and movies. I did funny voice-overs for two different projects last semester, one I just mentioned was Citizen Kane, another one was my own creation of a TV commercial for a non-exist product. I used two different voice tones and pitches for those two projects, and many people thought the voice were hilarious!

Again, expect to see someone who I know is in the sound for video class. Actually, I did see not one, but many of them that I know. First, Caleb Wood, he has been my classmate since last year, both of us were taking 140 class that time, then we took the 144 and 148 classes last semester, where I created the funny K. Lab Wood TV commercial and K. Lab Wood PSA there. K. Lab Wood, Caleb Wood, every time when I think of K. Lab Wood I really want to laugh. Lol!

Other people I met today includes Omar, (both he and I are also taking the Avid class) Amy, (she takes the Pro Tools class too) Marek, (he took the 140 class with me last year) and Geo. (he took the 148 class with Caleb and me along with many awesome people but he later left)

So many great people in all those classes, and I think that is a good sign for me, isn't it?

Rare Double Quake Blamed For Pacific Tsunami

Rare Double Quake Blamed For Pacific Tsunami

Story posted 2010.08.18 at 08:32 AM PDT

The deadly tsunami that pounded several South Pacific islands last year was spawned by not one but two monstrous earthquakes, surprising new research reveals.

Initially, it was thought that a single powerful magnitude-8.1 jolt triggered the tsunami last September 29 that killed nearly 200 people in Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.

Two teams using different research techniques have now separately concluded that the disaster was the result of a rare double whammy -- two so-called great earthquakes with magnitudes greater than 8 -- that hit within minutes of each other.

What's notable, they say, was that the quakes occurred along separate fault lines and ruptured differently.

Although the researchers differed on which struck first, their discovery of a one-two seismic punch solves a mystery that has baffled scientists since the disaster.

The findings are published in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature.

When the South Pacific sea floor rumbled last year, scientists initially blamed it on a "outer rise" earthquake of magnitude-8.1 caused by the flexing and bending of the Pacific tectonic plate. But tsunami waves did not arrive at the predicted times and the aftershocks did not cluster around the main quake -- as they normally would -- suggesting that something more complicated was at play.

Using GPS data and deep-ocean tsunami wave observations, a group led by geophysicist John Beavan of the New Zealand geological agency GNS Science determined that the tsunami was actually generated by two powerful quakes -- the magnitude-8.1 "outer rise" quake and a magnitude-8 "megathrust" jolt caused by the diving of one plate under another.

While Beavan's group is not sure which hit first, a separate team led by Thorne Lay of the University of California, Santa Cruz, concluded the magnitude-8.1 quake unleashed the megathrust jolt. Normally, megathrust quakes trigger other jolts. Ground vibrations from the first were so strong that they masked the energy released by the second quake.

The second tremor "does show up clearly on seismic records, but only once you look very hard," Lay said.

Scientists not involved in the latest research said the findings shed light on what happened in the South Pacific, but more work is needed.

"It is difficult to say how typical this behavior is in the region," said U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist Paul Earle. That's because there's a long time between earthquakes and modern instruments weren't available for previous massive earthquakes, he said.

KTVU mobile News

Family and friends of a Bay Area teenager gathered for an emotional vigil Tuesday night in Emeryville.

Police said 15-year-old Markell Goodwin accidentally shot and killed himself in front of his younger brother while playing with a loaded handgun at a relative's home Monday night.

On the football field of Emery High School, family and friends gathered to remember the teen while trying to teach other children a lesson about guns.

"One of the kids I coached in 2006 passed away last night 'cause of a gun," said youth football coach Todd Walker.

Walker said he coached Markell and his brother. He spoke to dozens of children about the dangers of guns.

The shooting happened at the home of the boys' aunt in Oakland. Police said the fatal shooting appears to be an accident and that the boys brought the gun to the home.

But investigators were still trying to determine who the firearm belongs to.

The boys' mother Sharon Piert told KTVU she doesn't know how her sons got a hold of a gun.

"Kids don't know if it's loaded or not," said Piert. "I don't think anyone should have a loaded gun around the house."

Family and friends said the two brothers were known as the Goodwin twins, even though they were two years apart in age.

"They were always best friends. They were always together. It was never one without the other," recalled family friend Glenda Hammonds.

The younger brother was questioned by police last night and was later released.

Family members said he hasn't talked much about the incident and remained in shock as he tries to deal with Markell's death.

"He used to make everybody smile. I'm going to miss him so much," said their sister Mikela Goodwin.

The family released heart-shaped balloons at the vigil in memory of Markell. They said his death he leaves a void that can't be filled.

Markell just celebrated his 15th birthday this past weekend was supposed to start the tenth grade later this month. Now his grief-stricken family is faced with planning his funeral.

Look At The Blog I Posted Two Years Ago... How Ironic!

"Hey! I have no interest about digital media production! What so digital media production???!!! I just want to be a good journalist, not doing something off-stage production! OKAY!!!"

That was the blog post I made two years ago. When I looked at it again today, I certainly feel that how ironic it is! Two years ago, I said I don't want to be learning anything about media production. But the fact is that I have been constantly learning video production and editing since last year, basic studio video production, then FCP and advanced production, and now Avid. I think that I'm gradually heading to a professional path of media production, and I love it.

I'm thinking if I not take any video production class, what would I be doing now?

The First Class Session Of Avid Class

Last night was my first class session of Avid class in CCSF. The teacher Michele did some introduction for the class and talked something about Avid Media Composer. (The software that class will be using) She told us that Avid is the editing software used by the professional film / video editors such as the Hollywood film industry, and I remember that Misha told me that a month ago when I asked him about the difference between FinalCut Pro and Avid. Not only the features, the price for Avid is also incredible. A high-end or advanced Avid Media Composer can easily go up to $1500, whereas a standard FCP software is only few hundred bucks. But Michele pointed out last night that we can get the most basic version of Avid over the CCSF bookstore for a special discount price $295, and it offers the most basic features of Avid, and that's it. You want some fancy features? Expect to spend couple hundred bucks for the plug-ins and it'll be summed up to the price of full version of Avid.

I'm also thinking about to invest few hundred bucks to buy Avid and upgrade my laptop in the next few weeks, Avid works on PC too, that is good news for me since I only own a PC. I was thinking about to have FCP but I don't have a Mac at all. I think it should be a good investment to have Avid on my laptop, let's go! I'm professional.

Having Self-knowledge Is Priceless

You might not believe it, but it is a basic principle of living. Everyone must have his/her self-knowledge, they have to know what abilities they have. Do not try to do or do something you think you could do it, but actually you don't know how to do it. If you don't trust me and try to do it, you will suffer the loss.

Face the reality, ooze is ooze, it can't become gold, especially when you have been living under poverty for prolonged period. Do you still believe there is hope? Living right here and seeing the person I don't want to see, I only have sadness in my mind…
