High temperatures, dry conditions and strong evening winds have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a fire weather watch for the Bay Area on Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to reach the lower 80s on the coast and upper 80s inland by Monday afternoon, according to National Weather Service forecasts, and evening winds are predicted to be 15 mph to 30 mph in the East Bay Hills, Napa County hills and other foothill regions above 1500 feet, where gusts are predicted to possibly reach up to 40 mph.

The combination of warm temperatures, low humidity, strong overnight gusts and dry hills could lead to increased fire activity across the region, according to the weather service.

The fire weather watch was scheduled to go into effect at around 6 p.m. Monday and last until Wednesday morning.
